Centralised administration
Raydesk allows administrators to manage individual profiles or whole groups from one place. Adding a new icon on users' desktops only takes a few minutes. As all applications can only be added and installed by the administrators, you do not have to spend your time removing computer viruses and securing computers at individual workplaces.
Minimum CPU and RAM requirements
Since the beginning of its development, Raydesk has been designed to be very highly optimised. Raydesk will save system resources when compared to common desktops, such as MS Windows, GNOME, KDE, etc.
| Environment | CPU Requirements | Memory Consumed | # of Install Packages | Boot time | Disk space occupied |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KDE 3.4 | ~1.0% (Boot ~30,0%) |
> 100 MB | 19 | ~ 30 s | 470 MB (Base KDE) |
| GNOME (JDS 3) |
~0,2% (Boot ~6,0%) |
> 100 MB | 232 | ~ 32 s | > 700 MB |
| Raydesk | ~0,0% (Boot ~0,1%) |
20 MB | 3 | < 5 s | ~ 3MB |
No operating system crashes
Users can only use applications approved by you on their workstations. You do not have to deal with operating system crashes, and that includes the servers. When you deploy Raydesk on a server farm or in a cluster, a crash of one server would not cripple users in the entire organisation thanks to a failover set up.
No more computer upgrades
The need to buy new, replacement, or additional hardware for user workstations will be eliminated. Adding one or more demanding applications would not lead to a slow-down or limitations for users. A virtual display terminal is backwards compatible and six year old terminals provide the same speed and comfort of use as new ones. When you want to increase performance all you have to do is add more system resources to the server.
