Supported Platforms

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (x86 platform) 4.x and 5.x (64-bit versions are being tested)
  • Centos (x86 platorms) 4.x and 5.x (64-bit versions are being tested)
  • Debian Sarge 4.x (unofficial)
  • Fedora Linux (x86 32-bit) Core 8 (unofficial)
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server (x86 32-bit) 9, 10 (unofficial)
  • Solaris 9, 10 (Sparc, x86)
  • Open Solaris (Sparc, x86)

Supported Application Types

  • Microsoft Windows (all versions accessible by Terminal Services clients)
  • X11 applications (using either tunelled ssh or telnet connections)
  • Application accessible by Citrix ICA (using native ICA client from Citrix)
  • Applications from QNX realtime system (using Phinx)
  • IBM mainframe and AS/400 (Using Sun's Secure Global Desktop infrastructure)
  • Web applications (using HTTP and Java technology)

Supported Protocols

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) version 5.1 and higher
  • Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA)
  • X11 R6
  • Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
  • HTTP over Secure Sockets Layer (HTTPS)
  • Secure Shell (SSH) version 2 or later
  • Telnet VT, American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Note: If you access terminal server functionality provided by Microsoft operating system products, you need to purchase additional licenses to use such products. Consult the license agreements for the Microsoft operating system products you are using to determine which licenses you must acquire.

Minimum Server Requirements

  • Supported operating system
  • 1 MB of disk space per user
  • 20 MB RAM per user
  • 25 users per 2 GHz processor core (Xeon 5000 or AMD 2000)
  • 100 Mbit/s Network Interface Card (NIC)

  • Sun Ray virtual desktop device
  • WYSE linux thin clients
  • HP Thin Client
  • PC i386 and higher with PXE boot support
  • PC i386 and higher with RaydeskMini installation in flash or hard drive
  • Remote PC or notebook with client supporting VNC or X11 protocol

Supported Networks

  • 100 Mbit/s LAN
  • 2 MBit/s symetric connetion for branch office
  • 1.5 MBit/s ADSL for single home office (some requirements for latency may apply)

Directory Services (using native LDAP plugin)

  • General support for LDAPv3-enabled directory services
  • Sun Directory Server
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Novell eDirectory
  • OpenLDAP

Supported Databases (using explicit SQL plugin)

  • MySQL
  • Oracle

Note: RDBMS is not required if Stickfish Raydesk is configured to use directory server such as OpenLDAP.
