Frequently Asked Questions

My Company

  1. For what companies is the Raydesk solution suitable?
Raydesk will pay off if there are more than 10 computers in your company, and users do not request different software on each of the computers. Raydesk is intended for clients who can calculate the cost of purchasing and maintaining the 10 computers, and their annual energy consumption. Contact us and we will advise you.
  2. For what type of customers is the Raydesk solution suitable?
Raydesk will find application both in the private sector and the public administration, education, financial sector, raw material industry, security services, and everywhere the number and range of user PCs represents major administration, maintenance, and power consumption costs. Raydesk strengthens organisation security and protects against unwelcome manipulation with equipment and copyright infringement.
  3. For what departments is the Raydesk solution suitable?
Raydesk is suitable for many different environments, such as call centres and customer support departments, development teams, training organisations, financial departments, classrooms, receptions, supervising posts, and other standardised environments with large numbers of users.
  4. For what environments is Raydesk not suitable?

Employees

  1. Is training of end-users necessary for using Raydesk?
No. Raydesk does not require any special skills from end-users. Users work as they would anywhere else – using desktop icons to launch well known applications.
  2. Our employees maintain that they are used to MS Windows. What can we do about that?
Raydesk offers features the users know from the Windows operating system. Try to find out whether the users really experience problems when using company applications in the Raydesk environment, or just do not want to lose the opportunity to install programmes behind your back or run games and other passtime applications.
  3. How difficult is Raydesk administration?
All administration of end-user workstations is done on a remote server through a web tool, the Raydek Administration Tool. An administrator needs no knowledge of the command line and can assign applications to users simply by adding the users to groups.
  4. How to solve a user's problem with Raydesk?
As with any product, there may be problems with the Raydesk virtual desktop or a user may need assistance. The administrator does not need to come personally, he/she can look at the user's desktop from the comfort of their office and solve software issues remotely.

Unapproved applications are not visible to the user and the approved ones are run by clicking on icons; it makes no difference whether they come from UNIX or MS Windows.
  2. Will we be able to use application X with Raydesk?

Also included is optimisation of the Sun Ray virtual display terminal network traffic. Customers can chose between 24/7 technical support, one-time technical assistance, or long-term support that includes access to new versions and patches.
