We have killed a Sun Ray 2 baby
This is our favorite, yet smallest CO2 footprint, virtual desktop device from Sun. You may have hard time to find them over or under the desk and this lovely pidgin will draw only 4W from your power supply invoice. We are now talking a full screen Java or Flash from a CNN website inside your browser power consumption. There is a 1W power difference from our measurements thanks to the loss of AC adapter. In other words, Sun Ray 2 draw 5W including the power losses on the adapter. If you come out with better China charger https://wiki.raydesk.com/Sun_Ray/Know_How/Sun_Ray_2_Power_Adaptor, your are back on the Sun specs.
You will find all the high resolution pictures in our Google Picasa album.
We advice you to be careful when opening this virtual desktop device pet. There is a tiny wire connection to a CMOS battery glued on the cover that is getting detached from the main body. If you are not handy enough, get a nice fancy hole behind your porch and learn some “good bye honey” songs. Once these battery wires get teared up, you may need a special knowledge, to get the galvanic connection back.
There are only a few minor reasons to be fool to open these Sun Ray 2 babies. On that we have in mind is to straighten back damaged/folded piece of metal inside the the Sun Ray 2. This metal is the hole for the screw inside the stand. Once you use to much power, you will never again be able to attach the Sun Ray 2 to the stand and it may used only as a coffee pad or mounted under the desk in a special cage.
We have never, in our experience, had to change the CMOS battery in Sun Ray. We are talking all models like Sun Ray 1, 1G, 150, 170, 2, 270. You should however be careful with front USB port on Sun Ray 2 as it is no metal concrete ingot-mould. Dropping prices means dropping the amount of material used on your loved desktops. The hard and morning headache usage of from USB port may end up the USB port male to be lost inside of the Sun Ray 2 darkness. The only help is to get a enough solid glue to fix the anger.
These babies comes with a basic 36 month Sun warranty, that should be enough for a rough NY suburb high school. If you wish to be greedy, get a Sun LCD 22 wide or 19 regular for a good price and you will get covered with your LCD monitor same length as the Sun Ray purchased with it. Otherwise, you will not get the beautiful Sun logo upfront your desk and under your desk with same warranty because Sun has 12 month limit warranty on their LCD.
