The new version brings major improvements in the user friendliness of the whole desktop. Many options and settings are offloaded to the user to alleviate the administrator's burden of desktop modifications. Here is a list of the most important new features:

seamless windows (RDP and ICA)
ability to set the wallpaper
menu driven desktop (applications accessible through menus, users are allowed to drag them as icons onto the desktop or to a designated area on the panel)
new control panel design (management of desktop workspaces and windows, drag arena)
user customisation (management of desktop or panel icons; configuration of the number of workspaces, background change, etc.)
new tools (show desktop, xkill app, file manager, ...)
runtime configuration refresh (ability to reread and update configuration from data storage without the need for restarting)
application toolboxes (ability to group applications in folders)
automatic icon sorting on the desktop
